Getting to the stadium is easy. Fans can walk from hotels in Downtown and EaDo or hop on the METRORail's Green and Purple lines, which stop right at the front. If you're driving, you'll want to buy a parking pass for Lots B or C ahead of time—the number of spots and their prices shift depending on the game and the Astros schedule.

Where to stay for Shell Energy Stadium

Downtown Houston or the EaDo district, due to the stadium's central location and the abundance of entertainment, dining, and lodging options. Many fans walk from nearby hotels.

Downtown Houston

Downtown Houston offers direct access to multiple major sports venues and boasts a vibrant urban atmosphere with numerous dining, entertainment, and cultural attractions. Its central location makes it ideal for a sports weekend, particularly for games at Minute Maid Park and Toyota Center.

The neighborhood has an excellent transit score, served by all METRORail lines (Red, Green, and Purple) and Greenlink buses, offering convenient transportation throughout the city. The Red Line connects directly to NRG Stadium.

EaDo (East Downtown)

EaDo is an up-and-coming, vibrant neighborhood adjacent to Downtown, offering quick access to Minute Maid Park, Toyota Center, and Shell Energy Stadium. It's known for its walkable streets, growing food scene, and numerous breweries.

The neighborhood has good public transportation options, including METRORail access, making it easy to connect to other parts of the city. The Green Line of the METRORail runs through the East End, connecting to downtown.

Midtown

Midtown is centrally located between Downtown and the Museum District, making it a convenient base for exploring various parts of the city. It's known for its vibrant nightlife, diverse dining options, and walkability.

Midtown offers excellent transit access with the METRORail Red Line and numerous bus lines, providing easy connections to Downtown, the Museum District, and NRG Stadium.

Arrival and exit strategy

Transit and approach

The METRORail Green and Purple Lines stop directly at the EaDo/Stadium Station, which is in front of the stadium. METROLift buses also service the stadium. The stadium is conveniently located near major highways including I-69, I-10, and I-45. Bicycle parking is available at the Northwest, Northeast, and Southeast corners of the stadium.

Rideshare and parking

Rideshare: The recommended rideshare drop-off and pick-up zone is at the corner of Walker St. and Hutchins St.

Parking: Shell Energy Stadium utilizes Lots B and C on the North side of the stadium, but availability and pricing vary with each game and the Astros schedule. Pre-purchasing parking passes is highly recommended. Street parking may also be available in surrounding areas on a first-come, first-served basis. ADA spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis in Lots B and C.

After the event

The East Club remains open approximately one hour following the conclusion of Houston Dynamo FC and Houston Dash matches. Pitch 25 (2120 Walker Street) is a soccer-themed bar and grill in EaDo, 'practically in the shadow of' the stadium, that offers a vibrant atmosphere after games and has hours until 2:00 AM on some nights. The EaDo district itself is known for its restaurants and nightlife.

  • Atmosphere area: East Downtown (EaDo) neighborhood, just east of Downtown Houston.
  • Tailgating: Tailgating is permitted but is dependent on the specific events occurring at Shell Energy Stadium and the Astros schedule. Guests with questions about tailgating should contact fanconduct@houstondynamo.com. Open-flame grilling or oil-frying equipment is typically not allowed.
  • Signature food: Concessions showcase Houston flavors, including Texas BBQ (brisket sandwiches, smoked sausages, BBQ nachos), Tex-Mex staples (tacos, quesadillas, Mexican street corn) from establishments like El Tiempo Cantina and Taquerias Arandas, and H-Town Hot Chicken. Vietnamese bahn mi sandwiches from Roostar are also available. Craft beer from Houston breweries like Karbach and Saint Arnold can be found.
  • Fan tradition: The Supporters' Section in the North End is home to passionate fan groups like the Texian Army and El Batallón, who create a lively atmosphere with drums, chants, and continuous energy. Seas of orange-clad fans are a common sight in downtown's East End on match days.

    Owned by Houston Dynamo legend Brian Ching, this massive warehouse features an indoor soccer field, games, axe-throwing, over 70 TVs, a huge patio, and more than 100 beers on tap. It's considered Houston's headquarters for soccer fans, especially for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
