About SportCation
Sports travel, simplified.
SportCation helps fans discover the smartest way to experience multiple live games in a single trip.
Instead of manually comparing schedules, stadium locations, ticket prices, and hotel options across different cities, SportCation analyzes the data for you, surfacing the best weekends, the most walkable venue clusters, and the most practical multi-game trips.
Whether you're planning a two-game getaway or trying to catch multiple leagues in one weekend, SportCation helps you find better options faster.
What We Do
SportCation brings together:
- Full-season game schedules
- Stadium and arena location data
- Overlap detection logic
- Ticket price baselines
- Sports-weekend hotel estimates
- Transit and accessibility insights
We turn those inputs into clear, structured recommendations so fans can plan with more confidence and less guesswork.
Instead of asking, “Are there two home games in Chicago next weekend?” you can see the answer instantly.
The SportCation Index
Each year, we publish the SportCation Index, a 100-point data study ranking cities for multi-sport weekend travel.
Cities are evaluated across:
- Logistics, including venue proximity, airport access, and transit
- Financials, including ticket entry cost and hotel rates
- Opportunity density, including how often real multi-game weekends actually happen
The goal is not hype. It's clarity.
Sports travel decisions are shaped by real constraints: time, distance, scheduling, and budget. We believe fans should be able to see those tradeoffs clearly before they book.
Why We Built SportCation
Planning a sports weekend used to mean bouncing between league schedules, map tabs, hotel searches, and ticket sites, all while trying to figure out whether the trip would actually work.
There was no simple way to see:
- Which cities truly support multi-league weekends
- Which stadium districts are realistically walkable
- Which trips are financially reasonable
- Which weekends are actually worth building around
SportCation was built to solve that.
What We're Not
SportCation is not:
- A sportsbook
- A ticket marketplace
- A generic travel blog
We do not publish rankings based on opinion or empty hype. We use structured data, transparent assumptions, and practical trip-planning logic to help fans make better decisions.
Prices, schedules, and availability can change, but our goal is to give travelers a more reliable starting point than scattered tabs and guesswork.
Our Approach
We focus on:
- Clear scoring models
- Transparent assumptions
- Structured data over vague claims
- Continuous refinement as our datasets improve
Sports travel should feel exciting, not exhausting.
Founder
Eric Wilson is the founder of SportCation, a sports-travel planning platform built to help fans turn a single game into a full weekend trip. He launched SportCation after seeing how fragmented sports trip planning was, with schedules in one place, venue logistics in another, and the best possible weekends often hidden behind hours of manual research.
His work focuses on sports tourism, multi-game trip planning, and the practical factors that shape how fans travel for live events.
Built for Fans Who Travel With Purpose
Some fans chase rivalry games. Some want to check off new stadiums. Some are looking for the best possible weekend at the best possible value.
SportCation is built for fans who want to maximize the trip, not just attend the game.
