Can You Walk Between Every Stadium in Cleveland? (Yes, in Under 20 Minutes)

Three minutes between the Cavaliers and Guardians. Eighteen more to the Browns. Cleveland's three pro venues sit inside a 1-mile triangle — the tightest downtown sports footprint in the country.

**If you can pick your weekend, target a Saturday with a Guardians day game and an evening Cavaliers home game.** Park once at Gateway East, walk everywhere, one hotel check-in, zero rideshares.

Yes. In the time it takes to order a beer, you can walk from a Cavaliers game to a Guardians game — Rocket Arena and Progressive Field sit about 830 feet apart across Ontario Street in the Gateway District. Cleveland Browns Stadium is another 0.9 miles north on the lakefront, about an 18-minute walk. Three major-league venues inside a mile. No other U.S. downtown packs them that tight.

Rocket Arena to Progressive Field (3 minutes)

These two don't feel like separate destinations. The Cavaliers arena and Guardians ballpark share the Gateway Sports Complex — the corner of Ontario Street and Huron Road drops you at both entrances. It's the shortest NBA-to-MLB walk in the country. You cross one street and you're there.

Shared logistics make it even cleaner:

  • Park once: Gateway East Garage (650 E Huron Rd) covers both venues — 3,300 spots, direct bridge into Rocket Arena from Level 3 (source).
  • Transit in: RTA Red Line from the airport to Tower City Center, then the enclosed RTA Walkway drops you directly into the FieldHouse lobby. The same walkway serves Progressive Field, opening three hours before first pitch. (For how this stacks up against other cities, see the airport-to-arena sprint.)
  • Between games: The Clevelander Bar (834 Huron Rd E) and Southern Tier Brewing (98 Prospect Ave E) sit on the walk between the two gates — pregame and postgame in the same three-block radius.

During a deep Cavaliers playoff run, that three-minute walk makes it realistic to catch a Guardians home game the same night — or hit a Guardians afternoon game and walk over for a playoff tip. No car, no transfer, no second parking pass.

The Lakefront Walk to Cleveland Browns Stadium

Cleveland Browns Stadium sits on the lakefront at 100 Alfred Lerner Way. From Rocket Arena, head north on Ontario, cross Public Square at the Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument, and continue up Lakeside Avenue. About 18 minutes on foot. The stadium appears on your right the moment you clear the Mall.

It's longer than the Gateway pair, but still fully walkable — no highways to cross, sidewalks the whole way, mostly flat. A Browns Sunday afternoon home game stacked with a Guardians 1:10pm first pitch works: a noon start means you can catch four or five innings, walk up to the stadium, and still be in your seat for kickoff.

What This Actually Gets You

Most U.S. cities make you move your car to see two games in one day. Cleveland doesn't. (We ranked the most walkable stadium cities in America — Cleveland is near the top.) A few comparison points:

  • Atlanta: State Farm Arena → Truist Park is 13 miles. Not walkable.
  • Chicago: United Center → Wrigley is 8 miles. Not walkable.
  • New York: MSG → Yankee Stadium is 9 miles. Not walkable.
  • Detroit: Little Caesars Arena → Comerica Park is ~0.2 mi. Close second.
  • Cleveland: 0.16 mi between the two Gateway venues.

Cleveland and Detroit are the only two cities where NBA and MLB parks sit inside a quarter-mile of each other. Cleveland wins on tightness — the Gateway venues are essentially in the same block, with Cleveland Browns Stadium close enough to round out the triangle on foot.

Practical Planning

  • Hotel neighborhood: Downtown Cleveland, specifically the Gateway District. You're walking distance to all three venues from any hotel inside the Public Square radius.
  • Bag policy: Progressive Field allows bags up to 16"x16"x8". Rocket Arena allows up to 14"x14"x6". Pack for the arena limit and you're covered for both. (Traveling with kids? Our family bag policy survival guide covers every major venue.)
  • Cashless everywhere: All three venues are card-only. Both Gateway venues have reverse ATMs if you arrive with cash.
  • Re-entry: Rocket Arena has no re-entry. Progressive Field allows re-entry through the Left Field Gate with ticket rescan. Plan food and bathroom stops accordingly if you're stacking games.

The Bottom Line

Three pro venues. One mile. One garage. If you're building a multi-game sports weekend and you want to spend zero time in a car, Cleveland is as tight as it gets in this country.
