The counterintuitive part is the timing. The densest weekend is not when the NHL opens on October 7, or when the NBA tips off on October 20. It is the last weekend of the month, because that is how long it takes the four calendars to finally land on the same city.

One scope note before going further. The MLB regular season does not overlap this window, so this analysis covers the NFL, NBA, NHL and college football only. The geography splits the weekend in two. Crypto.com Arena sits downtown in the L.A. LIVE district, served by the Metro A and E Lines at Pico Station. SoFi is in Inglewood, served by the Metro C Line with a shuttle connection. Those are different parts of the metro, so budget two separate transit runs rather than one base. Staying downtown makes the Saturday hockey leg walkable and turns Sunday into a planned trip out.

The Coliseum and the Rose Bowl do not have venue records in our data, so confirm their bag and gate rules directly with the host program.

Dallas, Los Angeles and New York each qualify on two separate October weekends, the most scheduling flexibility any market gets this month.

Dallas's two weekends are genuinely different: October 23 pairs basketball with college football and hockey, and October 30 swaps in the NFL. New York runs the same three-league combination both weekends, which makes it the most repeatable option rather than the most varied.

If the LA weekend is out of reach, Dallas is the strongest alternate, and its two weekends carry different league mixes, so both are worth pricing separately. New York is the pick if you want two attempts at the same combination, though its hotel market costs more than either.

These are representative averages from our pricing model, not live quotes and not get-in floors. Each league sells its ticket separately, so these figures describe separate purchases rather than one. One note on the NFL line: because the Rams host the Chargers, that weekend carries a single NFL game rather than two, so it is priced at the home team's canonical estimate of $330 rather than by adding a second team's figure on top.

The NBA leg is the one that moves the total. At an estimated $490 the Lakers cost more than the NFL and NHL legs combined, and dropping basketball turns this into the same three-league weekend a dozen other cities offer. That is the real trade on this weekend: the fourth league is the expensive one.

Dallas is the cheapest route into a three-league October weekend, running $116 less per night than Los Angeles and $252 less than New York. These are medians from recent samples, and New York rates in particular move on high-demand weekends.

We crossed the NFL, NBA, NHL and college football schedules and counted every unique metro-weekend pair between October 9 and October 30, 2026 where one city hosts at least three distinct leagues inside a Friday-to-Sunday window. Counts are per metro per weekend, not per game: a city hosting two NFL games on one weekend still registers as one stack.
