LA's Only True Same-Day MLB + College Football Double: USC Noon, Angels Night (Aug 29, 2026)

USC kicks off at noon and the Angels play at 7:07pm: Aug 29, 2026 is LA's one real same-day MLB + college football double this fall.

SportCation Editorial4 min read

Two Saturdays this fall look like a football-and-baseball double in Los Angeles. Only one actually works.

Aug 29, 2026: USC kicks off at noon at the Coliseum, the Angels throw first pitch at 7:07pm at Angel Stadium. Zero clock overlap makes it the cleanest same-day double on LA's tracked fall schedule. Book that weekend first. Sept 19 has three home teams on one date, but Saturday itself collides on the clock. Run it as a two-day trip instead.

The one clean same-day double: USC noon, Angels night

USC hosts San José State at the Coliseum, noon kickoff, Saturday Aug 29. The Angels host the Phillies that night at Angel Stadium, first pitch 7:07pm. USC's game ends hours before the Angels open their gates. Zero overlap.

The Dodgers' own schedule has them on the road Aug 29-30, so the Angels are the only MLB option in the metro that weekend. Want baseball with your football? Angel Stadium or nothing.

USC's ticket isn't priced yet: no tracked price exists for this game, so the cost math below counts it as an open line item instead of guessing a number. Check the market again closer to kickoff. The Angels game runs about $80, a representative average in line with the whole Phillies series that weekend; Friday, Saturday, and Sunday all price the same.

Angel Stadium game day for the Aug 29 double

Angel Stadium is fully cashless, from parking through concessions, with reverse ATMs inside if you show up carrying bills. Clear bags no larger than 12.75" x 6.5" x 12.75" get in, along with small single-zipper purses 12" x 12" or under; anything bigger stays at the hotel, and plan on staying inside once you enter, because re-entry is generally not permitted.

Gates open 90 minutes before first pitch, so target 5:37pm for the 7:07pm game. Coming from the Coliseum, both Metrolink and the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner stop at ARTIC, a short walk from the stadium; if you drive instead, the lots open two and a half hours before first pitch.

One gap worth naming: gate and bag specifics for the Coliseum aren't covered here, so check USC's official game-day guide before the noon kickoff.

Why Sept 19 looks stackable and isn't

Sept 19-20 looks like the bigger weekend on paper. UCLA plays Purdue at the Rose Bowl, the Dodgers host the Giants, and the Angels host the Twins: three home teams, one metro, one Saturday. That's exactly why it reads like the stack to book.

The clock says otherwise. UCLA kicks off at 8:00pm. The Dodgers' first pitch is 6:10pm. The Angels' first pitch is 6:38pm. Both MLB games are already underway before UCLA's kickoff, and neither ends before UCLA starts. There's no version of Saturday, Sept 19 where you catch both games.

The fix: split the weekend instead of skipping it. UCLA Saturday night, then Dodgers (1:10pm) or Angels (1:07pm) Sunday afternoon. Same metro, same weekend, just spread across two days instead of one.

Both weekends side by side

Aug 29-30 and Sept 19-20, side by side:

Book Aug 29-30 first. Sept 19-20 is the fallback, structured as UCLA Saturday plus baseball Sunday, never as a Saturday double.

What the full weekend costs on top of tickets

Los Angeles hotels run a $315 median nightly rate, based on a recent sample of five properties. Use that as your baseline for either weekend, then add tickets on top.

Aug 29-30 is the cheaper build on what's priceable today: one Angels ticket around $80 plus $315 a night for the room, with the USC ticket an open line item on top, so budget it separately once prices post rather than assuming it stays cheap. Sept 19-20 costs more on tickets alone, UCLA around $113 and MLB $80 to $155 depending on the team, and it adds a second hotel night since the trip runs across two days instead of one.

Check Los Angeles hotel options for current listings before you lock either weekend in.

Running Dodger Stadium game day if you pick the Sept option

Choose the Sept 19-20 fallback with Dodgers on Sunday, and three policies change how you pack and park.

Dodger Stadium allows clear bags under 12 by 12 by 6 inches, or small non-clear clutches under 5 by 8 by 2 inches. Backpacks, coolers, and standard purses get turned away at the gate. Leave them at the hotel.

Tailgating isn't allowed in any Dodger Stadium lot. Neither is drinking in the parking areas before the game.

Once you're inside, there's no going back out. Re-entry isn't permitted.

Skip the parking math. Take the free Dodger Stadium Express shuttle from Union Station instead. It runs every 10 minutes starting 2.5 hours before first pitch, and it pairs well with a downtown hotel, skipping the Dodger Stadium parking crawl entirely. If Saturday night is UCLA at the Rose Bowl, staying downtown keeps both legs simple: drive or rideshare to Pasadena Saturday, then walk to the shuttle stop Sunday.

Don't just watch, Go.
